In 2006, the European Commission published a communication on “Delivering on the Modernisation Agenda for Universities: Education, Research and Innovation” as part of the Lisbon strategy for growth and jobs. One of the responses to this initiative was the establishment in 2008 of the European University-Business Forum.
The objective being to provide a platform involving higher education institutions, companies, business associations, intermediaries and public authorities. It also hopes to enable and stimulate them to exchange good practice, discuss common problems and work together on possible solutions.
The first Forum took place in Brussels in February 2008 and in 2009 a Thematic Forum on New Skills for New Jobs - the Role of Higher Education Institutions and Business Co-operation was held in Dublin
