‘More Languages More Options’ - Post-Primary Languages Initiative

We are delighted to announce the web launch of a new video series ‘More Languages More Options’, seven short films on the value of foreign language skills. Each of the short films has a sub-title and these are: ‘Languages for Jobs’, ‘Languages for Science’, ‘Languages for the Workplace’, ‘Languages for Sport’, ‘Languages for the Arts’, ‘Languages for Education and Research’, and ‘Languages for Google’. The films do not focus on any language in particular but rather on the general value of learning any foreign language. We have serious talking heads, scientists, a concert pianist, Trappatoni’s interpreter, as well as trendy young Irish people in the workplace who not only use foreign languages on a daily basis but have got to where they are because of their foreign language skills.

Although the initial target audience were students in post-primary schools, their parents and school managers, the subject matter and focus is not specific to the post-primary sector. The films would help promote language learning in any sector and I would hope that they will be useful to all on this list in getting the message across that foreign language learning is useful and important! Please feel free to download/ link to/ embed etc, upload on your own websites, as you please. We want as many as possible to view them.

They can be viewed on our homepage at www.languagesinitiative.ie and you can 'like' them or comment on them on either our Vimeo account http://vimeo.com/album/1898124 or Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEA940E1F62D454FB&feature=plcp

Hope you like them
